The BBC site may run ads

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

It raises a few interesting issues about whether they should be alowed to make money. Also, it would be an excellent place to put ads, for better or worse.

Virgin pulls web challenge

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Virgin recently asked posters at B3TA to photoshop some ads for them as one of their “photoshop challenges”. Obviously they had to pull it. They must have kown they’d get a load of abuse, or did they?

I’ve added a plugin that let’s you embed video easily.

Monday, October 30th, 2006

In the text editor there are now some extra buttons. Click the one for the type of video you want to add, then put in either the url, or the ID (whatever it asks for). The ID will be the last part of the url of your video after the “=” sign.

So on youtube, the ID of the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua-HIk4_dyk is Ua-HIk4_dyk.

We’ve got a blog!

Friday, October 27th, 2006

Click on “register” to start a new account. You’ll then a get a password emailed to you. Log in, click on “site admin”, click “write”, then write a post and publish it.

This whole area of the site is password protected and is totally private so we can say what we like. In a couple of weeks, if it’s gone well, I’ll take the password off, delete emabarassing posts and make it public, but at that point I will also stop people being able to register, so make sure you do register before then.

I’m not sure if there should be a strict theme for this blog. If we all post to it it should be really varried and interesting, but we can always get relevant stuff by using the catagories. At the moment you can tick one of 4 catagories when you write your post; advertising, design, technology and misc, but if you suggest others I can stick them in.

I think this blog can do loads of things, but I don’t know what yet, so experiment with it and click all the buttons etc.

I think this is a link. To make a link, select some text, then click on the chain icon in the text editor (you’ll see when you get there).

Anyway, this should be good if we all get stuck in and have a go, so get stuck in and have a go.
